Annual benefit5
This is the maximum dollar amount you can be reimbursed per policy year. Select a lower limit for a typically lower monthly premium.
Reimbursement rate6
The percentage of your vet bill reimbursed by MetLife Pet. Go for a higher rate if you want more cash back on covered, approved claims. Note that the premium may increase if you select a higher reimbursement rate.
Deductible7
The amount of money you must pay before MetLife Pet will pay a claim. Choose a high deductible for a lower monthly premium.
Tips for Creating a Plan To Fit Your Pet's Needs
Think about your pet's age.
Older pets, kittens, and puppies may be more at risk for illnesses and accidents. Consider a higher reimbursement rate to cover larger expenses. You may also want Preventive Care for routine vet appointments for puppies.
Keep their breed in mind.
Your pet's breed can affect what conditions they develop. Research things like expensive dog health costs, and then consider adjusting your annual benefit limit to accommodate a future breed-based diagnosis.
Consider their activity level and environment.
Active dogs who hike, go to daycare, or visit the dog park may need higher annual benefits to help cover injuries and illnesses. Indoor cats should have pet insurance, but they might be fine with basic protection.

The cost of our pet insurance can vary based on a few factors, such as your pet’s species, breed, gender, and age, as well as your zip code and the level of coverage you choose. Customizing your reimbursement rate, deductible, and annual limit can all affect your monthly premium.5,6,7
With MetLife Pet, coverage can start at $7 per month for one cat and $16 per month for one dog.1 If you decide to enroll in a family plan, this can also impact how much your pet insurance policy costs.3
